German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its E-class diesel E300 hybrid.
The new hybrid will be powered by 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine generating 204hp and a torque of 500nm, while the 15 kW electric motor will develop 26hp and 250nm of torque.
Its electric motor will be positioned between the internal combustion engine and the 7G-Tronic transmission, which will facilitate the hybrid vehicle to run on zero emissions at speeds up to 35km/h.
Following the depletion of the electric motor, the diesel engine will allow the hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds and can be accelerated up to 242km/h while emitting 109g/km CO2.
According to the German maker, the diesel hybrid offers of a fuel economy of about 4.2 litres of fuel per 100km.
