MFTBC and DICV Will Produce New Trucks in India for Export

Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus (MFTBC) along with Daimler Commercial Vehicles India (DICV) have unveiled plans to produce new trucks in India for extport to the Asian and African markets.

The export is a part of MFTBC's 5-pillar growth strategy FUSO 2015, under which the company is increasing its global operations to strengthen its position in the new growth markets.

As part of the plan the company has unveiled five FUSO truck models including the light-medium-duty trucks, FA and FI, ranging from 9t to 16t and the medium-heavy-duty, FJ, FO and FZ that can carry loads between 25t and 49t.

The light-medium-duty trucks, which are based on the Daimler Trucks technical platform, Mitsubishi Fuso's Fighter medium-duty truck chassis and Canter light-duty truck cabin, are powered by the 4D37 diesel engine, paired to six speed manual transmission which generates an output range of 100kw to 125kw.

Medium-heavy-duty of the series are based on Daimler Trucks technical platform, Mercedes-Benz Axor chassis and cabin.

The vehicles are equipped with the new 6S20 diesel engine that delivers output in the range 170kw-205kw and is mated to six or nine speed manual transmissions.

All the trucks will be produced at the new plant in Oragadam, Chennai in India.
