Affiliated Importers Ltd., a High Point-based supplier of upholstery frames and other goods to the furniture industry, has named three employees to new executive positions.
Justin Shinn, now the company's president, was promoted from import manager and Ray Owens, vice president warehouse and distribution, was previously warehouse manager. Marilyn Shinn, now secretary/treasurer, had been vice president.
Tom Barger, owner and CEO, said he is "aging out" and, "It's time for a new team to take the company to another level." He said he will remain CEO and will stay on board in a guidance capacity.
Affiliated Importers has been in business since 1994 and was created to offer upholstery managers a means to procure hand-carved chair frames without having to buy large quantities through direct importing. It warehouses a core line of chairs, ottomans, sofas, benches and cocktail ottomans in a 110,000-square-foot facility in High Point.
The company also sources other items for the industry such as stainless steel, brass, acrylic and case goods. In addition, it can provide proprietary items to fill customers' needs.
