The Most Popular Christmas Gift This Year in Australia - a Cockroach

Australian parents are eschewing the traditional cats and dogs as gifts this Christmas and opting instead for stick insects, giant cockroaches and tarantulas. Skye Blackburn, owner of an insect farm in parramatta, is experiencing a boom in her bug business, with customers choosing them as gifts because they are smaler and cheaper to feed. "Cockroaches eat dried gum tree leaves which can be found everywhere and their enclosures only take up a small space, making them perfect for families living in apartments," she said.
