The New Caster Is Designed to Produce 700,000 Tons of Austenitic

Reportedly, Austria's plantmaker, Siemens VAI announced on September 19 that a single-strand continuous stainless steel slab caster, capable of producing the world's thickest stainless steel slabs was commenced operation in July for Posco's stainless steel plant SSCP 4 in Pohang. The new caster is designed to produce 700,000 tons of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel slabs at a speed of 1.1 meters per minute with thicknesses of 250mm and 300mm in widths ranging from 800mm - 1650mm.
