NEW YORK — U.S. furniture sales grew 8.3% last month from a year earlier and the industry appears to be on the rise, according to a story by Bloomberg.
More home sales and increasing consumer confidence are behind a rebound in demand for the industry, sources told the news service. Lower unemployment also has been beneficial.
Meanwhile, shares in some publicly held furniture companies have increased in price lately, Bloomberg noted, citing a 117% gain in La-Z-Boy stock since Oct. 3 and a 57% climb by case goods and youth furniture source Stanley Furniture.
