In spite of an extra working day compared to last year, turnover generated by German furniture manufacturers in July 2012 showed year-on-year growth of only 0.4% to .365bn. However, compared to the situation in 2011, there was also a shift in company holidays, so that consideration of the month in isolation is not representative. While the federal German statistics agency reported that domestic turnover declined marginally by 0.3% to 52.2m, revenues abroad increased by 2.2% to 12.4m, attributable mainly to the sectors of contract and cabinet furniture.
