Rooms To Go Will Build a Showroom and Distribution Center for Online Customers in The East

Rooms To Go will build a 1.1 million-square-foot showroom and distribution center here designed to be its main distribution hub for online customers in the East.

The Seffner, Fla.-based Top 100 company will invest about $40 million in the Dunn area over the next three years and create 220 jobs through the project, according to a release by the N.C. Office of the Governor in Raleigh, N.C.

The complex on Saddlebred Road will serve as a warehouse, distribution center and retail showroom and will be "the primary distribution and processing center for online deliveries to Rooms To Go customers throughout the eastern United States," the release said.

"The facility will have a state-of-the-art showroom and outlet center that the company believes will become a convenient stopping point for travelers on I-95."

RTG expects to bring on about 100 people as independent contractors dedicated to home delivery of goods from the warehouse to customers' homes, the release said.

"Our goal was to find a location that provides great visibility and exposure on I-95, while allowing convenient transportation access for receiving merchandise and delivering to our customers," RTG President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Buckley said in the release.

"The Saddlebred Road site offers these key features as well as a great location for a brand new Rooms To Go store for consumers throughout the region and people traveling up and down the East Coast," said Rooms To Go President and Chief Operating Officer, Steve Buckley."

The timing of the project was not disclosed.

The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant of up to $200,000 from One North Carolina Fund, provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business and create jobs.

"Rooms To Go knows our state's support for the furniture industry is second to none," said N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory in the release.

"It's always great news when existing companies choose to reinvest and grow their business right here in North Carolina."
