Chicony's subsidiary company Chicony Power's application to OTC (over-the-counter) listing in the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) was reviewed and approved by the TWSE committee on August 15th. Chicony Power expects to be included in the listing starting 4Q. The company hopes to then join the ranks alongside Delta Electronics, Liteon, and Acbel Polytech to become the top four power supply companies.
Chicony Power was established at the end of 2008 and became Taiwan's only manufacture of power supplies with four straight years of revenue growth from 2009 to 2012, ranking it top among similar companies. After four years, the compound annual growth rate was around 17.8 percent, with a growth in after-tax income of 41.4 percent. The company's ROE (Return on Equity) after 2011 maintained a standard of over 20 percent. Chicony Power had revenue of NT$23.6 billion in 2012 and after-tax income of NT$913 million.
Chicony Power entered into the power supply market during its flourishing period on the PC market. In only 4 short years, the company was able to obtain more than 30 percent market share in the global market. However, with the PC market no longer booing, Chicony Power has turned its attention to different fields such as tablet computers, cloud computing, video game consoles, and LED lighting.
