India's Organized Apparel Retailers Are Moving Towards The E-Commerce Space Aggressively

India’s organized apparel retailers are moving towards the e-commerce space aggressively, according to a latest study conducted by leading Indian retail IT solutions provider Ginesys.
 
According to the study, titled ‘Report on E-Commerce adoption by Apparel Retailers- 2013’, 27.5 percent of the organized apparel retailers in India have adopted e-commerce in one form or other, and 20.1 percent of organized apparel retailers are present on multiple online platforms indicating the growing importance of the online shopper.
 
The report states that 12.8 percent of organized apparel retailers have invested in their own e-commerce infrastructure i.e. e-commerce ready website, which highlights the fact that a growing percentage of players are contemplating entry into ecommerce as a long term option.
 
The report also highlights attempts made by retailers to tap online shoppers at various avenues. More than 7 percent of retailers who own ecommerce sites are also present on secondary platforms, indicating a major trend of selling through secondary e-retailers and online marketplaces.
