Flexible liquid packaging solutions provider Liqui-Box has installed a new Maverick Dream Machine development bag line at its global technology center located in Ashland, Ohio, US.
Liqui-Box already installed a smaller scale version of the Maverick production lines at all its manufacturing locations, while the new line is said to integrate the majority of industry leading bag line features.
Expected to be operational in the first quarter of this year, the company has also invested in new Aseptipak steam filler, which will enable to test bags and fitments under higher temperature conditions.
In 2016, Liqui-Box acquired engineering and flexible operations of South Africa-based Maverick for an undisclosed sum. Maverick is the first in a series of planned acquisitions of Liqui-Box.
Maverick Engineering is engaged in manufacturing of bag-in-box making equipment while Maverick Flexibles designs and manufactures specialty films and laminates for food and beverage markets.
Established in 1999, Maverick provides bag-in-box bag and pouch making equipment for the international market.
Liqui-Box R&D SVP Greg Gard said: "We are pleased to introduce this new bag line to our engineers, designers, and technicians.
“This new line will allow quicker process and product development, and also allow us to run bag samples for customers and potential customers without the need to interrupt production facilities.”
Liqui-Box engineering VP and Maverick cofounder Hilton Traviss said: "This line will also be an avenue to test new engineering and equipment upgrades prior to commercial introduction on our manufacturing lines.”
