US-based packaging supplier Sev-Rand has reshuffled its management and started operating new facilities in order to consolidate itself.
The firm hopes to cut down its lead times and offer more manufacturing flexibility to Sev-Rand's buyers of fresh produce, which make up for 75% of its sales, according to the packer.com.
Sev-Rand installed a netting machine to produce better packaging for its produce customers, to provide packaging with customized color and material.
Distribution plants were opened in Bakersfield, California, and Vidalia, Georgia that the firm has designated as stocking locations for netting, wineglass and films distribution.
Top officials were appointed in January 2012 at the helm of consumer packaging and flexible packaging operations.
Sev-Rand owner Rob Williams said the blown film line enables them to vertically integrate and control the lead times and quality.
"Lead times will be drastically shortened compared to where the industry is now. We will be able to service form fill and seal equipment that uses the flexible packaging that we will manufacture for pouches. It also utilizes netting and film that we manufacture for the form-filled sealed equipment for produce." added Williams.
Sev-Rand produces labels and tag, SecuriTag equipment applicator for clamshells, thermal printers, label dispensers, lip wires and clip bands.
