Turkey's Seamless Pipe Imports Rise in Jan-Sept

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first nine months of the current year Turkey's seamless pipe imports totaled 165,219 mt, up 9.74 percent compared to the same period of 2012, while the value of these imports rose 3.41 percent year on year to $226.43 million. Meanwhile, in the third quarter of this year, the country's seamless pipe imports totaled 66,673 mt, up by 27.15 percent year on year and rising by 31.40 percent quarter on quarter.

In September this year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 26,013 mt, up 47.36 percent compared to August and increasing by 113.72 percent year on year.

In the January-September period this year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports from the CIS amounted to 27,134 mt, decreasing 29.94 percent, while imports from the EU totaled 38,863 mt, almost stable, both year on year.

On the other hand, Turkey's seamless pipe imports from China, Turkey's largest seamless pipe import source since 2009, amounted to 91,368 metric tons in the January-September period of the current year, up 32.89 percent year on year. China, which accounted for shares of 32.8 percent in 2011 and 47.7 percent in 2012 in Turkey's seamless pipe imports, achieved a 55.3 percent share in the first nine months this year.
