The Scaffolding Division of Harsco Infrastructure s UAE operation, Quebeisi SGB LLC, scooped the trophy for safe working throughout the year from Lafarge - operator of Emirates Cement Plant in Fujairah.
"We have the satisfaction of a job well done, and this, combined with the recognition of our client, is a win-win situation," said the company s UAE contract operations manager, Mick Schumacher. "Credit should rightly go to the 70 workers on site whose unfaltering professionalism has brought us to this point."
Since being brought onto the site in August 2008, Harso has won two further maintenance contracts. In 2012, there were four planned shutdowns performed for scheduled maintenance.
Harsco also worked on independent access around two 125m-high columns, and one of these was a conditioning tower. The job required specially designed scaffolding to be used to address "self weight" on such extremely high structures.
