The worldwide shipments of connected automotive infotainment systems are expected to reach 50.9 million in 2017 from 5.7 million in 2012, according to a new report.
According to ABI Research's new Automotive Infotainment market database, by 2017, both Europe and Asia-Pacific will dominate US.
ABI Research vice president and practice director Dominique Bonte said infotainment remains a strong driver for the connected car market with both connected navigation and multimedia streaming about to become standard features, especially in the US market.
"In Europe the TomTom-powered embedded Renault Carminat Live solution has seen stellar success," Bonte said.
The report also revealed that the screen replication technologies which include MirrorLink are expected to be deployed by car and phone OEMs, while embedded automotive infotainment solutions are expected to include open source platforms.
