Hempel Has Won an Investment Boost for Coatings for Cement Factories and Mineral Plants

Hempel has won an investment boost from the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation for research into coatings for cement factories and mineral processing plants.

Cement production and mineral processing are big and growing industries - and they require special coatings with high abrasion resistance that can withstand hot and acidic conditions. Hempel already offers support for these industries, and has now been awarded a grant to increase research in the area and further expand its product portfolio.

"We've worked hard to expand our portfolio for industrial customers in recent years and our expertise will enable us to develop coatings that improve efficiency for customers working in mineral processing and cement production," said David Deters, group vice president R&D.

Awarded by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation, the DKK 31 million grant will be used in a joint research project with FLSmidth and the Chemical Engineering Department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Working with two of the industry's leading players, Hempel will be able to develop coatings and new technologies that lower costs and improve efficiency for customers.
