Home accessories and furniture manufacturer Uttermost is opening a satellite showroom in the Historic Market Square at this week's High Point Market, set for Oct. 19-24.
The company also announced that it has hired former Guildmaster CEO and designer Jim Parsons as a new product designer.
The new 5,000-square-foot space in Market Square 272 features contemporary product in all of the company's categories.
Uttermost will show product like this in its new satellite showroom in Historic Market Square for this week's High Point Market.
"Our Commerce showroom, with almost 20,000 square feet, has a great selection of contemporary product, but it can get lost in our maze of product," said Mac Cooper, president of Uttermost. "This satellite showroom allows us to show a clear concentration of contemporary furniture, lighting, wall décor, rugs and accessories without the distraction of our more complete offering."
Cooper said the Market Square showroom will also be more casual in both products offered and operations. "We want this satellite showroom to be very comfortable, very approachable, where customers can take a quick look at the contemporary product we offer."
Uttermost's International Home Furnishings Center showroom, C-448, and the new Market Square showroom use the same market scanning and accounting systems.
Parsons, who founded Guildmaster and also is a former retailer, will work in several product categories for Uttermost. His first collection for the company will debut in 2014.
"Jim is a talented designer with a long history of producing great design," Cooper said. "Even more importantly, he is a person who takes the time from his work schedule to help support the adoption and foster care training for children in China. It's an honor to work with Jim."
