Several Bars in The East Village and Brooklyn Are Using Fake Pint Glasses

Recent reports show several bars in the East Village and Brooklyn are using fake pint glasses that look and feel like 16 ounces but are actually closer to 14.

One longtime bartender says he started seeing it happen back in 2006 when prices went up glasses started shrinking.

And some bars are pretty tricky about it. Often getting glasses that simply have more glass on the bottom, as seen in the graphic in this video.

“It’s frustrating because you work hard for your money, and then get these small little glasses for big prices,” one beer drinker said.

Bartenders calculate by using a 14oz glass they get an extra 20 glasses out of one keg.
