Report From The Bureau of Labor Statistics Shows Construction Employment Rose in 33 States

A recent report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that construction employment rose in 33 states from November 2012 to December 2012. The largest increase was seen in Wisconsin, where those employed in construction rose from 84.6 thousand to 89.5 thousand—an increase of 5.8 percent.

Additionally, Florida saw an increase in construction-related employment from 12.8 thousand to 13.3 thousand—a 3.9-percent gain. Other states showing sizable increases included Indiana, with a 3.5-percent rise from 123.8 thousand to 128.1 thousand; Nevada, with a 3.3-percent increase from 49.2 thousand to 50.8 thousand; New York, with a 3.0-percent gain from 291.8 thousand to 300.6 thousand; and Alaska, with a 2.8-percent increase from 14.1 thousand to 14.5 thousand.

Still, the report saw a few notable drops, including Montana, where construction-related employment dropped 4.0 percent from 24.5 thousand to 23.5 thousand.
