PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- El Dorado Furniture has opened an expanded showroom here, which at about 145,000 square feet is now the Florida chain's largest.

The store's boulevard showroom concept was revamped with a new Carlo Perazzi contemporary area, a Gazebo for patio furniture, a power motion leather upholstery area, and what the company describes as a state-of-the-art mattress department. The retailer added about 35,000 square feet to the store and remodeled the entire store in phases.

"We are dedicated to bringing our customers the most diverse selection of furniture that the industry has to offer under one roof," Pedro Capó, El Dorado's chief operating officer, said in a release.

The company held a ribbon cutting ceremony for family, friends and the media Thursday and is grand opening the store Saturday. The first 150 customers to arrive will receive a $150 furniture gift card. El Dorado also will have live entertainment and hourly giveaways throughout the day.

The Miami Gardens, Fla.-based Top 100 company said he 11-month expansion project created more than 50 construction jobs, and the store now employs nearly 100 people.

El Dorado previously estimated the project as a $4.5 million investment but declined to disclose the expected sales boost.
