Polish Softwood Sawmills Have Been Able to Cover Their Probable Roundwood Requirements

At the latest internet auctions held by the Polish state forest agency Lasy Panstwowe, Polish softwood sawmills have largely been able to cover their probable roundwood requirements for 2013. Should smaller shortfalls in requirements arise in the coming weeks, they are to be covered by purchases on spot markets. The supply situation in the second half of the year is still not clear. 70% of roundwood supplies for 2013 have been sold in the two-stage internet auctions. In the subsequent sales via the internet portal, virtually all of the previously unsold 30% of the volume allocated for the first half of the year was sold. In comparison to the situation in the previous year, prices were slightly higher. From the perspective of the state forestry agency the auctions were therefore satisfactory.
