Havertys Reported That Its Business Was up 7.9% and Announced Details of Three Stores

ATLANTA — Havertys reported that its written business for the fourth quarter through November was up about 7.9% over last year, and also announced details on the openings of three stores.

The -based Top 100 company said the sales gain was on top of a 13.9% increase in the same period a year ago. A dollar amount of sales wasn't disclosed.

Officials said the store openings align with the retailer's plan to increase its net selling square footage by 3% in 2014. All the new stores will be in existing Havertys markets - Atlanta, Fort Worth, Texas, and Orlando, Fla.

"We are pleased to announce our securing of these great new Havertys locations. They represent our commitment to strengthen our presence in key markets with additional or repositioned stores," said Clarence Smith, chairman, president and CEO.

In the third quarter of 2014, Havertys will open a 19,000-square-foot store in the Buckhead Square shopping center in Atlanta, at Peachtree Road and Piedmont Road, one of the most heavily traveled intersections in the Southeast.

In next year's fourth quarter, it will open a store in AllianceTexas, an 8,000-acre master-planned, mixed use community in North Fort Worth. The 30,000-square-foot store will be in Alliance Town Center.

Havertys is also relocating one of its four Orlando-area stores, also in the fourth quarter. The new store will be a part of a development at US 441 and West Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee. The 30,000-square-foot store will replace a location on South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando.
