Bosch Packaging Technology’s two-in-one biscuit packaging system has been given the German Packaging Award (Deutscher Verpackungspreis) in the packaging machines category.
The new packaging system enables switch from slug to pile packs and vice versa in less than three minutes.
When compared to conventional slug or pile packaging machines, product count changes can be completed quicker due to which manufacturers are able to run special promotions under short notice and also react quickly to market changes.
Additionally, as it does the work of two machines, it decreases the need for production space.
The whole line has been designed to be a single system, starting from product discharge through to primary and secondary packaging.
The machine has also been able to optimise production flow and eliminate bottlenecks as the speed of all components is balanced. This has enabled the packaging line to increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Bosch was presented with the award by the German Packaging Institute at BrauBeviale, a trade fair for production and marketing of drinks in Nuremberg.
The Bosch Packaging Technology division operates from over 30 locations across 15 countries across the world. Currently, it employs around 5600 people and produces complete solutions for the pharmaceuticals, food and confectionery markets.
The German Packaging awards are organised under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, an independent jury panel of experts from industry, research, teaching and the trade press who select winners in five categories, sales packaging, labelling, closing systems and other packaging aids, display and promotional packaging, transport and logistics packaging, packaging machines (technology) and young talent.
