Red Cross officials thanked the company for its help in Hurricane Sandy relief and its consistent support.
LOS ANGELES — Abbyson Living has donated furniture to aid victims of last year's Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast, partnering with national relief organization Family-to-Family, the company said.
Hurricane Sandy decimated the East Coast last fall, becoming one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history.
Los Angeles-based Abbyson Living said it reached out to Family-to-Family after the storm hit to support families in need. The organization connected the company with families living in a low-income housing project in the hard-hit area of Far Rockaway, N.Y. Several families received a new leather sectional sofa from Abbyson Living.
"It was a natural fit to match Abbyson, a company whose furniture pieces can essentially ‘make' a home, with specific families whose houses were devastated by Hurricane Sandy," said Pam Koner, founder and executive director of Family-to-Family. "Through their furniture donations, Abbyson was able to help these families renew that feeling of home."
