The Bentley Continental GT3 race car will make its official debut at next week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed ahead of the marque’s long-awaited return to racing later this year.
Previewed by the Bentley Continental GT3 concept race car (pictured top) unveiled at the 2012 Paris motor show, the rear-wheel drive 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8-powered Continental GT3 features a six-speed sequential transmission, stripped interior, and carbonfirbe doors, bootlid and bonnet.
The new race car headlines a line-up from Bentley that will include dynamic displays of two Le Mans-winning Speed 8 racers and see the 460kW/800Nm Continental GT Speed coupe and convertible complete runs up Goodwood’s famous hill climb with four-time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen and five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell MBE at the helm respectively.
The twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12-engined Flying Spur, Bentley’s fastest and most powerful sedan in history, will also make its presence felt in a static display.
The event coincides with Bentley’s 10th anniversary celebration of its 1-2 finish at Le Mans in 2003.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed begins on July 12 in Sussex, England.
