PPG Industries recently staged awarding ceremonies for its 2014 China Scholarship Program at 10 Chinese universities. PPG has sponsored scholarships for Chinese students each year since 2003. This year, the total scholarship amount reaches RMB 330,000.
Administered by the PPG Global Charitable Contributions Program, PPG’s China scholarship program recognizes high-achieving students in chemistry-related disciplines and helps them realize academic goals. To date, the program has awarded more than 800 scholarships to Chinese students.
“This program demonstrates PPG’s strong commitment to education and to China,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific. “It is a win-win project because we are able to reward and encourage top university students and at the same time continue our talent search and development efforts. PPG will launch new school-enterprise cooperation programs next year to engage and benefit more college students in China.”
In 2014, the 10 universities participating in PPG’s China scholarship program are: Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautic Beijing University of Chemical Technolog East China University of Science and Technolog Jilin Universit Nanjing Universit Nanjing University of Technolog Nankai Universit South China University of Technolog Tianjin Universit Wuhan University of Technology In addition, PPG partnered with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to establish a Science Innovation Fund to engage college students in the company’s scientific research and innovation programs.
