The Furniture First buying group here has added three new members: Designer Furniture Gallery in Saint George, Utah, Garrison's Home Furnishings in Central Point, Ore., and Home Living Furniture of Howell, N.J.
Designer Furniture Gallery was founded in 1983 by Dallas Mangum as a small shop in Saint George and has grown to one of the largest furniture stores in the area. It's now led by the second generation of the Mangum family.
Garrison's Home Furniture opened in 2007 when the second generation of the Garrison family took over the family business, previously called Wholesale Furniture Outlet.
Home Living Furniture operates three large showrooms serving the Tri-State area of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The company opened its flagship store in Howell in 2006.
Like most Furniture First members, the new members are family-owned businesses "that have succeeded by serving their communities, by standing behind their merchandise and offering stellar service," Furniture First said.
The additions bring the furniture and bedding buying group's membership to 211 stockholders, with 450 furniture stores in 47 states.
Separately, the group said it will show at the January Las Vegas Market in World Market Center B-962 - a smaller showroom, but with the same space number as Furniture First's previous location in the market. The consolidated showroom will feature merchandise from a variety of supplier partners, including outdoor seating and dining from multiple vendors displayed with Traeger wood pellet grills; solid wood custom dining from Palettes by Winesburg and solid wood bedroom options from Daniel's Amish; and a new First Choice custom dining program developed for the group by Bassett Furniture.
The showroom also will feature Furniture First's new store-within-a-store and standalone bedding store concept. Furniture First plans on holding several members-only events at the market, including its general membership meeting the morning of Jan. 28.
