LED packaging house Unity Opto Technology has acquired an existing factory in northern Taiwan at NT$1.23 billion (US$40.7 million) specifically for expanding LED lighting production capacity to meet expected increases in orders mainly from the US and Europe markets, according to the company.
The factory, sitting on a plt of 6,091 square meters with total floor area of 21,242 square meters, will help expand monthly LED lighting capacity from one million light bulbs, tubes and lamps currently to more than three million units, Unity Opto said. The revenue proportion for LED lighting will exceed 35% beginning from third-quarter 2014, Unity Opto added.
