A second 22,000-square-foot Boyles Furniture & Rugs will grand open this week in Avon, Conn., at the former Nassau Furniture.
AVON, Conn — Boyles Furniture & Rugs is set to open its first Northeast location at the former Nassau Furniture here.
The 22,000-square-foot store, with a grand opening set to Aug. 21, is the second to open since a new investment group, backed by Gene Rosenberg, created a joint venture with owners Chad and Alex Hendricks to buy into and expand the business.
Rosenberg is co-founder of Top 100 company Bob's Discount Furniture of Manchester, Conn., and liquidator and sales specialist Planned Furniture Promotions.
The new group reopened a former Boyles location - its first store - in Mocksville, N.C. in May. That 50,000-square-foot location was the first of several planned by the group, though it hasn't disclosed details on markets and timing. It said its plans also included freestanding and licensed rug galleries.
"The North Carolina store is off to a great start, and we've been overwhelmed with the positive response from the community and surrounding areas," Boyles President Mark Bannon said in a release. "In the two-and-a-half months since the Mocksville grand opening, we're excited to report strong sales that are exceeding our expectations."
The new store is in central Connecticut, 20 minutes west of Hartford at Routes 44 and 10 in Avon. The former Nassau Furniture location underwent renovations prior to the opening.
Suppliers include Sherrill, Henredon, Maitland-Smith, Drexel Heritage and Heirloom bedding as well as Boyles branded goods.
"The Farmington Valley area in Connecticut is a perfect location for the Boyles brand, concept and merchandise," said Rob Rosenberg, Boyles executive vice president. He said that several of Boyles' owners live in the area "and are aware of the unmet demand for mid- to high-end furniture at a value.
"We've gathered a highly talented group of designers and sales personnel to serve and accommodate our customers' needs," he said.
