Rattan Furniture and Celebrities Have in Common

So what does Toronto, rattan furniture and celebrities have in common?

After doing a bit of research on the topic, I have come up with a few interesting insights, that are not too shocking, I’ll admit, but nevertheless, some sexy and quite a bit funny as well.

First of all, there is the ultimate celebrity Marilyn Monroe. Here seen on a rattan chair on a photo shoot with Milton Greene. She was playing in movies with mounties, was photographed in the Canadian rockies, with a padded grizzly and paddling a canoe. Really, she’s almost a Canuck, and now we even have the GTA twin towers that are dedicated to her.

In the early 90s, the movie “Wicker Chairs and Gravity” brought Toronto on the map again for this topic. Steven Wright played the main character in the TV flick that was filmed mainly in the big smoke. He once spoke the phrase: “A lot of people are afraid of heights. I’m afraid of widths.” More info can be found on IMDB.

Of more recent date are the following personalities. Denise Richards, famous as the bond girl in “The World Is Not Enough”, most recently known as the ex-wife of Charlie Sheen. We see her on a rattan wicker loveseat, which is actually a super-comfy piece of furniture, on one of her photo shoots in Toronto. Who knew, she has French-Canadian roots?!

She apparently said: “I’m spontaneous. I love going from one thing to something else and not knowing what I’m going to do next.” My guess would be that was before she had kids, otherwise, big respect, that is certainly not what my life looks like…

Some of us will have a hard time telling who that is on first sight, at least for me that was the case. JLo usually smiles at us from the bottom of her heart. Not so here, while sitting on this rattan furniture on a Toronto porch, while shooting a movie. If this was part of a scene then I am curious to see her gritty side in this new flick.

And who would this rattan furniture be best suited for?

Yes, you're right. Think Toronto, think hockey. Wow, I could swear in that one suit, Don Cherry would be completely invisible on this chair. Initially as hockey player and NHL coach, he has become a vibrant TV celebrity. Together wich Ron MacLean he hosts the CBC sports show Hockey Night in Canada. Don was born in Kingston and will soon celebrate his 80st.
