Decorating kids' bedroom is any interior designer's delight. You get to experiment with vibrant hues and unusual designs while implementing various interior ideas for kids' bedroom. Even the most showy colors and patterns do not look out of place in a kids' bedroom. Making kids' beds is one such challenging yet gratifying experience for designers. Gone are the days when beds used to be simple wooden box shaped pieces. Today's kids prefer highly stylish and sophisticated beds. Thus, donning kid's bedroom needs a bit of research along with understanding of the individual taste of the kid.
How to Choose a Bed for Kids' Bedroom
The first and the foremost thing that you should consider is the size of the bed. Remember, your child will most likely stay in that room for almost all of her teen years, unless you choose to move before that. Hence, select a bed large enough to accommodate your growing kid. Besides, avoid decorating the bedroom and the bed in extremely childish décor. This might embarrass your kid when she enters her teen years. A simple yet cheerful décor is ideal for kids' bedroom. Another thing to consider while choosing a bed for kids' bedroom is the size of the room. If the bedroom is large enough, you can afford the luxury of a large double bed. However, for smaller, cramped bedrooms, you might have to go for folding, rolling or sliding beds. Loft beds or bunk beds are easy to implement and are great space savers. Another thing to note here is, no matter how amazingly you decorate your kids' room, you will invariably have problems keeping it neat and clean at all times. Hence, go for beds and other furniture with maximum storage capacity to house your child's toys, books and other stuff. Lastly, the bed should be extremely comfortable and cozy for your child. Avoid awkwardly shaped beds or extremely soft bedding as it could cause problems to your kid.
Bed Ideas for Kids
Car Bed
If your kid simply adores cars and aspires to drive one soon, then a car bed is a great idea to realize his dreams. This bed idea is pretty simple to implement as you only need to cut the side board of the bed in the shape of a car. As the sideboard rises above the height of the bed, it will also keep your child from falling off the bed, should he roll on in sleep. You may use a colored plywood panel for the side board or you may paint the wooden bed frame. You can also build a fire engine bed or a motor bike bed in a similar fashion.
Royal Bed
Royal bed, which is ideal for your little princess, also looks apt even as she enters her youth. Buy a four poster bed with tall posts. Choose a dark pink bed frame with curved foot and headboards. Choose light pink or violet colors in sheer fabric for the curtains. Go for white or pink bedding with floral prints for the most exquisite effect.
Themed Bed
You can build a bed based on a certain theme according to your kids' taste. If he or she is interested in wildlife, you can build a jungle themed bed. For nature loving kids, you may go for garden themed beds with floral bedding, colorful frame and boards etc. Make sure the rest of the kids bedroom décor is in sync with the theme you choose.
Do not forget to take your child's taste into account while designing your child's bedroom, because ultimately it is he/she who is going to occupy the room.
