UK-based retailer Sainsbury's has called for the introduction of a single method of displaying nutritional details on printed labels for food products to help public make informed decisions.
Over the years, many systems have been used to advise consumers as to what nutrients items contain, which were often proved to be misleading the public, dennybros.com reported.
Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King said one method should be applied by all businesses consistently.
The UK government believes that it could help deal obesity, cancer, diabetes and many other public health issues and is already consulting on the matter.
