InkSure Technologies Has Launched The New Security Taggants for Food Contact Applications

InkSure Technologies has launched the new security taggants that can be incorporated into blister packaging and induction seals on bottles. The taggants are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for direct food contact to the company's anti-counterfeiting product line.

According to the machine-readable anti-counterfeiting solutions provider, the taggants can also be incorporated inside of shrink wraps, foil seals and other packaging materials that come into direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals.

Besides protecting prescription and non-prescription drugs, the taggants are also suitable expensive food items and specialty beverages as well as other commonly counterfeited consumables.

InkSure's taggants are already used in a large-scale project protecting alcohol and tobacco products and keep potentially harmful counterfeit products from being used by consumers.

InkSure president & CEO Tal Gilat said due to safety concerns, the protection available for pharmaceuticals and food items is usually restricted to overt solutions which provide limited protection.

"The FDA approved taggants we offer are of the same level of security used in anti-counterfeiting programs for currencies, banknotes, electronics and other high-value items," Gilat said.
