Surya is introducing an exclusive line of rugs from Belgian design firm Papilio, including the Jam Craft rug from the Pure collection.HIGH POINT - Surya is introducing a line of novelty rugs at the High Point Market from Belgian design firm Papilio.
The rug collections combine recycled materials and unexpected construction techniques to offer fashionable, eye-catching rugs that are comfortable and stylish, according to the company.
"We are excited to partner with Papilio to bring to the U.S. market these stylish and trendsetting European rugs that not only convey a unique design aesthetic but also reflect concern for our environment and sustainability," said Satya Tiwari, Surya president.
Papilio's rug designs incorporate exotic fibers such as bamboo, banana and camel wool, along with less common materials like newspaper, used cardboard and Indian saris, to provide a range of eco-conscious options.
The rugs are grouped into lifestyle collections, each of which contains several price points. Papilio's philosophy is that "design doesn't have to be expensive."
"Based on the depth of the Surya line, and the level of service the company provides to its expansive customer base, we believe that Surya will be a strong advocate for the marketing of our products within the U.S. while remaining true to the Papilio brand," said Christophe Vervaeke, vice president of product development, R&D, Papilio.
Papilio is the recipient of a number of international design awards for its recycled rugs, including the Red Dot Design award and Henry Van de Velde Design award.
